Cal Valls, founded in 1978, was a pioneer in organic agriculture in Catalonia and Spain. The company's mission is rooted in the belief that a healthy diet plays a crucial role in overall well-being, a philosophy passed down from its founder's grandfather, Manuel Valls Sanfeliu.

Initially focused on transitioning to organic farming, Cal Valls faced challenges with fruit trees and shifted its efforts to growing vegetables. Over time, as the demand for organic food grew, the company expanded its focus to fresh produce, while maintaining its commitment to organic and biodynamic farming methods.

In 1989, Cal Valls became one of the first certified organic farms in Spain. In the 1990s, it incorporated biodynamic techniques and earned the international Demeter certification, further solidifying its reputation for high-quality, sustainable agriculture.

For the past 10 years, Wholegood has worked closely with Cal Valls, supplying their organic vegetables across the UK. This partnership has been instrumental in broadening the market for such important growers and promoting access to fresh, healthy, and sustainable produce.

Now, with over 70 hectares of organic and biodynamic crops, Cal Valls continues to produce fresh, healthy, and sustainable produce, driven by a team of more than 50 people who carry forward the company's long-standing commitment to organic farming and healthy eating.
